Ontario, CA Fire Protection Company Feels the Need for Speed

October 11, 2009 by californiafireprotection

PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA — When a restaurant is in need of Nationwide Fire Protection Corp.’s Ontario CA fire protection services, time frequently is of the essence.

That is why Nationwide Fire Protection places a great deal of effort into responding to calls quickly and getting the requested services completed in short order.

“We are all about speed without sacrificing quality,” said Massoud Farazandeh, general manager of Nationwide Fire Protection. “We have the quickest response time to any service call.”

NFP is headquartered in Denver, CO and is an affiliate of American Professional Services (APS-Hoods). NFP has installed Ontario, CA fire protection systems and commercial kitchen hoods for businesses throughout California for more than 20 years. It opened a satellite location in Placentia, CA in August to better meet customer demand for their services.

When it comes to installations in existing or newly constructed buildings, NFP prides itself particularly on the speed in which the company can work through local permitting processes. Where some companies may drag out the process for weeks, Nationwide Fire Protection typically can get the task accomplished in a matter of days. This is important to customers, because they often can’t open for business or resume business until NFP’s work is completed.

“Permitting can hold up progress if you’re not careful,” Farazandeh said. “There is no trick to what we do to expedite the process. We just go after it promptly. We understand that for our clients, time is money.”

Time Is Money
Customers appreciate the speed in which Nationwide Fire Protection can get the work done, and they also appreciate the comprehensive services the company provides, Farazandeh said. When it comes to new restaurants, for example, having a company that provides a wide range of services can speed up construction, which means the restaurant can open on time, if not sooner.

“It can take up to two months sometimes for other companies to do an installation,” he said.”

Meanwhile, the customer is paying their lease and other bills on a business that isn’t even open yet. Nationwide Fire Protection can complete an installation within a week and if the customer really is pressing to get the work done, the company has completed jobs within two to three days.

“We don’t take short cuts to make it happen,” Farazandeh said.

Instead, through years of experience, the company has learned how to streamline the process.

“We get it done faster primarily because we’re getting all the logistics together beforehand,” he said. “We get the permitting done right away, the drawings turned in to the city and the city approves it. These things can take quite a long time if companies are not on top of it.”

NFP employees also will work extended hours to complete the job in short order.

The speed doesn’t end with the installation process. Farazandeh maintains quick response times when it comes to service calls by giving employees flexible schedules and having someone on call 24 hours a day.

Los Angeles Fire Protection Company Offers a Travel Fee-Free Service Area

October 10, 2009 by californiafireprotection

PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA— Nationwide Fire Protection Corp., a Los Angeles fire protection company, announces that it will not charge travel fees to customers located within a 35-mile radius of the company’s Placentia, CA satellite location.

NFP, which installs and sells Los Angeles fire sprinkler systems, implemented this policy when the company opened its satellite location in August, said Massoud Farazandeh, general manager of the fire protection company headquartered in Denver, CO. NFP is an affiliate of American Professional Services (APS-Hoods).

That means that in addition to Los Angeles, cities including Long Beach, Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, Laguna Beach, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Westminster, Alhambra, Pomona, Inglewood, Glendora, Newport Beach, Fullerton, Hacienda Heights and Lake Forest do not pay a travel fee. The company continues to offer its services throughout California and the United States. However, travel fees for all destinations outside the 35-mile radius of the Placentia and Denver locations apply.

The volume of calls the satellite location has received in such a short time prompted Farazandeh to quickly adopt the same travel fee-free policy he recently established at the company’s headquarters, he said. As the workload in other parts of California increases, he will consider expanding the area in which the company does not charge travel fees.

“The more business we have in a particular city, the more cost-effective it becomes for us to travel there for work,” he said. “This is true even for cities located outside of this 35-mile radius.”

For example, if three restaurants in Oakland need their fire alarm systems serviced and they schedule their servicing appointments together, Farazandeh will split the travel fee among the three restaurants, making the job cheaper for each of them.

This offer is helpful to businesses in remote areas, especially now that many are struggling to make it through these tough economic times and have been forced to consider more cost-cutting measures, he said.

An age-old question is whether Nationwide Fire Protection Corp. simply increases its service fees to cover the cost of travel expenses. Farazandeh said that is not the case.

“As soon as we start increasing our prices in areas outside Placentia, we begin losing customers to our competitors,” he said. “We have no interest in doing that.”

Instead, Farazandeh is leveraging the work in these areas so his company can provide customers with the best national quality service Nationwide Fire Protection has to offer, but at a price competitive with local providers, he said.

San Diego, CA Fire Protection Systems Company Offers Advice on Testing Fire Alarms

August 5, 2009 by californiafireprotection

Wednesday, August 5, 2009— PLACENTIA, CALIFORNIA — Businesses throughout California install fire alarm and fire suppression systems in their buildings and hope that they never have to use them.

Although the likelihood of experiencing a fire are slim, it is a good idea to test fire alarm systems on a routine basis to ensure they operate properly in the event that there is a fire, said Massoud Farazandeh, general manager of Nationwide Fire Protection Corp., an affiliate of American Professional Services (APS-Hoods).

Nationwide Fire Protection Corp. has provided San Diego, CA fire systems service and installation from its Denver headquarters since the company began in 1989. The company opened a satellite location in Placentia earlier this month, due to the increase in service requests throughout California.

“Now that we have a satellite workshop in California, we anticipate that our requests for San Diego fire systems services and installations are going to increase,” Farazandeh said. “We feel as though it’s important to share some tips on maintaining fire alarms so businesses can be better educated on when they need to call us for service.”

Most businesses do not routinely test their fire alarms and of those that do, many do not properly test the systems, he said. It is important that fire alarms be tested by qualified personnel who are certified. There are several entities that can certify personnel, including the International Municipal Signal Association or the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies. Personnel also may be factory-trained and certified, according to an article in the NFPA Journal.

Letting the Pros Do it
For many business owners, scheduling fire alarm tests is yet another task added to an already busy day, so they opt to have a professional company come in and do the work.

Hiring a company such as Nationwide Fire Protection Corp. certainly has its benefits, Farazandeh said.

“As we’ve mentioned, there are several things that can be done incorrectly,” he said. “But hiring a company that has expertise in this area means the testing will be done properly the first time.”

Farazandeh also offers same-day service for recharging extinguishers and tagging them. Extinguishers must be tagged annually, which signifies that it is charged and lists its inspection date. If a fire department representative sees an untagged extinguisher, the business owner can be fined.

Included in the the alarm testing process is a complete report that details the work done, any deficiencies found and any repairs that need to be made, he said.
